PLANT ENVIRONMENT // ECO-CALIBRATION

The Botanical Recovery Lab

Healthy plant growth starts with the environment it lives in. Instead of following one-size-fits-all care guides, it’s more effective to understand how your specific space affects your plant. Light, humidity, airflow, temperature, and pot size all work together to influence how a plant grows. By tuning these factors to match your environment, you can give your plant exactly what it needs to thrive—without guesswork or trial and error.

Step 01 // Plant Type

Understanding Your Plant’s Natural Needs

The first step is identifying what kind of plant you have and how it naturally grows. Different plants evolved in different environments, so they each need specific levels of air, moisture, and energy to stay healthy. By understanding your plant’s natural baseline, we can predict how it will respond to its environment and care routine.
Plant Energy Needs: Each plant type has a normal “energy use” level that guides watering and soil choice.
Root Oxygen Needs: Some plants need extra airflow around their roots, while others prefer to stay more evenly moist.
Step 02 // Region

Climate, Location & Window Direction

Where you live plays a big role in how quickly your plant dries out. A plant in a dry desert climate loses moisture much faster than one in a humid region. Window direction also matters because it controls how much sunlight and heat the plant receives.
Evaporation Rate: We factor in your regional humidity to determine how often your plant should be watered.
Sun Direction: South-facing windows deliver strong, direct light, while north-facing windows provide gentler, more consistent light.
Step 03 // Exposure

Light Strength & Distance From the Window

Light is the main fuel plants use to grow. However, light strength drops quickly the farther a plant sits from a window. Even a bright window won’t help if the plant is placed too far away. We measure how much usable light actually reaches your plant.
Light Loss Over Distance: We calculate how much light weakens as it moves away from the glass.
Light Match Check: We confirm whether the available light is strong enough for your plant’s growth stage.
Step 04 // Volume

Pot Size & Soil Amount

The final step is choosing the correct pot size and soil volume. The shape and depth of a pot directly affect root health, drainage, and moisture balance.
Exact Soil Volume: We calculate how much soil your pot actually needs based on its diameter and depth.
No-Waste Planning: We recommend the right combination of 2-Quart and 4-Quart bags so you buy exactly what you need—no leftovers, no shortages.
